Your Inner Child wants you to be happier

Now that we’re all adults, let’s just admit that being a grown-up isn’t exactly what we were expecting.
When I was a kid, it seemed like adults had it made. They got to call all the shots.
A lot of the time the shots they called seemed kinda dumb.

I can vividly remember little me seething with internal rage at being told, “No, you can’t go to your friend’s house. You have to clean your room.”

😡What kind of BS is that?
Like every kid ever, I promised myself that when I grew up, I would be a different kind of grown-up.

First of all, I would never do anything as painfully conventional as worrying if my house was clean!  Also, I would never smother a good time with a wet blanket of obligation. Not me! I’d be too busy with my glamorous and exciting career as a wild animal trainer at the zoo.

Cut to today, and I am not living that zesty wild animal life. I do, in fact, try to be practical and realistic even though it doesn’t come all that naturally. I do care if my house is clean and my chores are done, and sometimes I have a hard time relaxing if they’re not.

But, no matter how far into adulthood I get, that wild, untamed girl is still inside. The one who talks to animals and plants, the one who believes in the power of imagination. This week I started work as a volunteer at an equine therapy horse farm. My role is to walk alongside the horse and watch that the riders are seated safely and to assist them with their exercises.

Little me squealed with delight for the full two hours.🐎

What you love is inside of you too. You probably hear it calling you, reminding you of the wild, free parts of yourself. Sometimes it’s hard to hear your inner child when you’re an adult.
Your inner child is a powerful manifester, she knows that too much adulting can disconnect you from the kind of spontaneous joy-seeking that brings magic into your life.

Pay attention to what sparks love and excitement, look for it everywhere you go.
Invest your time in activities that spark your childlike creativity and happiness.
Play can be anything that absorbs your focus, especially mastering new skills.
